That time a client's 'helpful' pruning tip killed my oak
Three years back, a homeowner in Austin told me to strip all the lower branches off his live oak to open up the view. I warned him it was too much at once, but he insisted, so I took maybe 40 percent of the canopy. Within a year, sun scald hit the trunk and we had to cut the whole tree down. He blamed me at first, but after a follow-up with another arborist, he admitted the over-pruning did it. Has anyone else had a client push a bad practice and end up paying way more later?
