One client's offhand remark about my notch cuts stuck with me for 2 years
I was doing a removal in Burlington and the homeowner came out, watched me fell a maple, and said 'you cut that notch like my grandpa did in the 80s.' I thought it was a compliment until his tone made it clear it wasn't. Turns out I was still using a conventional notch where a open-faced notch on bigger timber gives way better control. Changed my cut on anything over 18 inches and my hinge failures basically disappeared. Anyone else get a random comment that actually fixed a bad habit?

Grandpa's method probably worked great when wood was free and logs were small.
