Wasted $150 on a fancy multimeter that gave up after 3 months

Bought a Fluke knockoff from an online deal and the screen died mid-diagnostic on a refrigerator compressor call, has anyone else had a cheap meter screw up a repair?

This cheap Klein meter has been solid for two years now on HVAC calls.

That Klein stuff surprises me sometimes... way more reliable than people give it credit for being. Never had one drift out of spec on me, even when I've dropped it off a ladder a few times. The continuity beeper is nice and loud too which really helps when you're working in a noisy mechanical room with the blower going. Only thing I'd watch is the lead quality on the cheaper models, they tend to crack at the probe handle after a while. But for the price it's hard to beat if you just need a solid daily driver that won't break the bank.
