That $500 solder station I bought sits in the box after two months
I kept hearing everyone rave about these fancy digital solder stations for board work on washing machines and dryers. So I dropped $500 on one with all the presets and an iron holder that looks like a spaceship. Turns out my old $60 analog unit does the same job fine for the 15 percent of repairs that even need a reflow. I got sucked into the hype from a YouTube guy who probably gets paid to push gear. If you are starting out, put that money into a good multimeter and a parts fridge instead. Has anyone else regretted a big tool purchase because the cheap stuff was honestly good enough?
