Swapped out my old multimeter for a Fluke 117 and instantly found a bad capacitor in 2 minutes.

The cheaper one gave me inconsistent readings for months and I just assumed the part was fine, but the Fluke caught a 15 microfarad cap reading at 3 right away, what meter do you guys trust for tricky refrigerator board diagnostics?

Totally feel you on the cheap meter blues. I had this old no-name thing that would just wig out randomly, kept reading 240V on a dead circuit once. Swapped to a Klein CL800 and instantly found a fridge compressor that was pulling almost double its rated start up amps. The board was already toast though, but that meter saved me from swapping a perfectly good part.

Did the Klein give you false readings on anything else first?
