Saw a guy at a supply house show me how to remove stripped screws with a rubber band
I was at Ferguson in Austin waiting for a part and this old timer used a rubber band to grab a stripped hex screw on a dishwasher door. Tried it myself on three machines since and it worked every time. Anyone else got a weird trick for stripped screws that actually holds up?

That "talking to it like it owes me money" line hits close to home. The thing about stripped screws is they're really just teaching you the same lesson over and over - the second you force things, they break. I've noticed that pattern is everywhere now. Like trying to open a pickle jar when you're pissed off, you just slip more. Or rushing a turn on a wet road, that's when you lose traction.

Rubber band trick is solid until you're wrestling with a screw that's stripped down to a smooth circle. At that point I just start talking to it like it owes me money.
