TIL I used to write anime recs on paper for my cousin in 2012, now I just text him a list from my phone
Back then I kept a little notebook with episode counts and where to start, and last week I sent him 6 shows in one text while waiting for the bus, which made me wonder if losing the handwritten part lost something too.
Man, this hits home. I did the exact same thing with my little brother, only mine was a spiral notebook where I'd rank stuff and write little notes like "skip episodes 4-6, trust me." Now I just dump a bunch of titles in a group chat and half the time he never even watches them. Part of me thinks the paper thing actually made him more likely to watch, because it felt like a real gift instead of just another link. The effort was the point, you know? Losing that feels like losing a little ritual we had.
