Wasted $120 on a wireless alarm panel that kept dropping signals 50 feet from the sensors

Installed a Honeywell Lynx Touch in a 3,000 sq ft house in Phoenix and had to run back three times to reset the thing before I realized the walls were plaster with wire mesh, so now I only hardwire in older homes.

Tough break, but mesh in plaster is basically a Faraday cage. Did you try moving the panel closer before assuming the whole system was garbage?

Wait, you said "mesh in plaster is basically a Faraday cage"? Holy crap, I didn't even think of that. So all that metal wire stuff they use to hold the plaster together is literally blocking the wifi signal? That's wild. I bet my old house has that stuff everywhere. No wonder I had to put my router in the living room to get a signal in the kitchen, the walls must be full of it. Sounds like moving the panel closer would just put it in another dead zone, not fix the actual problem.
