Almost got burned by a firmware bug on a 20 year old panel
We pulled an old Vista 10 from a decommissioned gas station in Tucson. Customer wanted it reused for their storage unit. Tested fine on the bench. Took 6 hours to install and wire. Then the keypad started ghosting alarms at 3am. Manufacturer says the panel's firmware has a known timeout flaw if the phone line is dead and the date is past 2020. Nobody talked about this in the manual. Check the manufacture date before you reuse anything older than 15 years. Has anyone else run into old panel quirks like this?
