Shoutout to the $200 "aviation grade" safety wire pliers that broke on my second lock
So here's the debate I keep having with guys at my shop: does the fancier tool actually save you money or just cost more up front? I bought a pair of "aviation grade" reversible safety wire pliers for $200 about 4 months ago out at a tool show in Wichita, and the return spring snapped on my second lock, so I'm out the money and back to my old $30 pair that's been fine for 6 years. My lead swears the expensive ones last longer if you keep them oiled and don't yank the twist, but I think that's just sunk cost talking. Anyone else get burned on a high dollar tool that a cheap one did better?
