Tried two ways to make frozen fries crispy, one was a game changer
I always had soggy fries from the bag until I tested two methods side by side. First, I just sprayed them with oil and cooked at 400 for 15 minutes like the bag said. The second batch, I soaked them in hot water for 10 minutes first, dried them really well, then did the same cook time. The soaked ones came out way crispier and more like real fries. The difference was night and day, no more soft middles. Has anyone else tried this trick with other frozen veggies?

Wait you soaked them in HOT water? That's the part that blows my mind, I always thought cold water was the trick. Hot water makes so much sense to get the outside ready but I never would have tried it. Gotta test this tomorrow because my fries are always a sad disappointment. Honestly this feels like a kitchen hack that should be illegal it's so simple.

What about adding a little vinegar to the hot water too?

Hot water soak is a total game changer. Did the same with frozen potato wedges last week, got that perfect crunch. @the_brian adding vinegar sounds smart, might cut the sogginess even more. Gonna try that next time for sure.
