My air fryer basket coating peeled off after 8 months and I want to know who else got burned
I picked up a 5.8 quart air fryer at a Target in Tucson back in January, and last week I noticed the nonstick coating on the basket was flaking off near the bottom corners. I scrub it with a soft sponge and warm soapy water, never metal, never the dishwasher, so I really don't get what happened. Now I'm scared to cook anything in it because little black specks came off on a paper towel when I wiped it dry. My roommate says just buy a new basket, but replacement baskets run $25 to $35 which is almost half what I paid for the whole thing. I called the company's support line and the guy said the coating isn't covered after 90 days, which felt like a slap in the face. Has anyone here dealt with flaking baskets, and did you just replace it or toss the whole unit? Also if you have tips for cooking in it without the coating getting worse, I'd take those too.
