A guy at the library in Tucson showed me his phone could write a poem in 5 seconds
I was waiting on a repair quote to come through and this older guy next to me typed 4 words into some app and got a full poem back in about 5 seconds. Back when I was messing with computers in the 90s, getting a machine to finish a sentence felt like a magic trick, and now it does the whole thing while you watch. I keep going back and forth on whether that is cool or kind of sad. What is the smallest thing AI does now that still makes you stop and stare?
My buddy watched his phone turn a blurry pic of his dog into a full oil painting in like ten seconds and just sat there quiet for a minute. That whole "it finished the thought for me" thing is what gets me, not the flashy stuff.
