I finally noticed my milk frother was on the wrong setting for 11 months
I've been making lattes every morning before my night shift since February, and the foam always came out flat and watery, so I figured my cheap frother was just weak. Last Tuesday my coworker Dana glanced at my mug and asked why I had it set to 'cold foam' when I was heating milk. Switched it to the hot setting and now I get that thick, silky top, so has anyone else been sleeping on a tiny switch or button for way too long?

Man, that sucks but also kinda hilarious! I did the same thing with my instant pot for like a year, kept wondering why my rice came out mushy every single time. Turns out I had the lid on the wrong seal setting the whole time, the one for slow cooking instead of pressure cooking. Once I flipped it, everything changed, made perfect rice on the first try. It's crazy how one tiny switch can mess with your whole routine for months and you just blame the machine. Now I double check every button and knob before I start anything, feels dumb but it saves me so much frustration.
