Tried a $2 handwritten note in 500 mailers and my response rate tripled in two weeks
Last month I ran a test for a client in Sacramento, sending out two batches of 500 mailers, one with the usual glossy print and one with a simple handwritten note on the envelope. The handwritten batch pulled a 4.2% response rate versus the 1.3% from the fancy ones, and we only spent $2 extra per piece. Turns out people open stuff that looks like a real person sent it, not a robot. Anyone else ditch the polished design for something rougher and seen better numbers?
