Serious question, does anyone else think chasing viral moments is killing good ad work?
Last Tuesday I sat in a client meeting in Chicago where they asked us to make three TikToks a week because a competitor got 2 million views on a dancing mascot. I pushed back and said that same competitor's sales were flat for the quarter, while our boring 30 second radio spot in two markets drove 400 more store visits than the month before. Am I crazy for thinking reach numbers are the wrong scoreboard, or has anyone here actually seen a viral hit pay off in sales?
