Back in 2019 I was sure TikTok ads were just a fad for kids

After seeing a competitor's campaign in Phoenix get a 22% conversion lift, I had to test it myself. What's the biggest platform shift you've been wrong about?

Honestly that 22% lift in Phoenix could just be a lucky test or a weird local trend. I still think TikTok ads are mostly a fad for reaching a young crowd that doesn't actually spend much money. The platform shifts I've been wrong about are usually the ones that stick around for more than a couple of years, not the latest flashy thing. It's easy to get fooled by one good case study.

Remember when everyone said Instagram was just for food pics and wouldn't sell anything? I feel like we're watching the same movie again with TikTok. It's tough to know when a platform is actually changing or if it's just noise.
