My underlayment overlap habit fixed my callback problem

I used to rush through laying underlayment without checking overlaps. After a leak on a past job, I knew I had to do better. Now, I always pause to make sure each sheet overlaps by at least six inches. I keep a tape measure handy for a quick check. Since doing this, my jobs have had zero leak issues. It only adds a minute or two per roll, but it's worth it. My team now does the same thing after seeing how well it works. This simple step really improved our work quality.

Yeah I get that, my friend learned the hard way too when his rushed overlap job leaked all over a client's new floor. He started measuring every time after that, which kinda proves @sarahkim wrong about hating surprises, you just hate costly leaks. That extra minute really does save a huge headache later.

Reminds me of when I skipped measuring for cuts and ruined a board. Now I always check, and it saves so much trouble.

Push back on @the_stella's advice. Measuring all the time is for people who hate surprises.
