Spent $180 on a 'pro' spray gun and it's been nothing but trouble
Bought a Fuji Mini-Mite 4 last month thinking it would speed up my lacquer work. The thing sputters on anything thicker than a wash coat and the needle clogs if you look at it wrong. I've spent more time cleaning it than spraying. Anyone have a solid HVLP recommendation that can handle conversion varnish without fuss?

That "mix just right" thing Elliot mentioned is exactly the problem, right? Sean_torres71, have you found a thinning ratio that actually works every time, or is it always a guessing game?

Check your air pressure and thinning ratio first. My Fuji runs fine with conversion varnish when I get the mix just right. A lot of those issues can be setup problems, not the gun itself.

What's the exact thinning ratio you use for conversion varnish in that Fuji? I've tried a few different mixes and still get some orange peel, even when I think the pressure is dialed in right. Is there a specific tip size you found works best for that thicker finish, or does it mostly come down to just getting the mix perfect every single time?
