Just realized my DIY shelf project mirrored my freelance workflow pitfalls

Spent days on it only to have it collapse (sound familiar to anyone's deadline crunches?). Now I'm rethinking my entire approach to quoting time for home and work projects.

Add a 50% time buffer to every quote, trust me. @dakotajones came around, and that shelf fiasco is a perfect example of why estimates fail.

Platforms and clients often expect quick turnarounds, which pressures everyone to lowball estimates. Maybe it's just me but I've seen friends burn out trying to meet these unrealistic schedules. We need to normalize padding timelines, not as incompetence, but as acknowledging human and systemic limits.
