Pressed flowers in used books are becoming my art material
I've noticed a lot of them in recent finds. Now I'm turning them into framed pieces for my home.

Actually the flowers are more of a found object than the art material itself... the book pages are the real medium here.

Totally get that point. When @dakotajones mentioned book pages as the real medium, it made sense. Like, the flowers are cool, but the pages give context. I used a page from an old novel with faded text under a daisy, and the words peek through. It adds story to the piece. The flowers just sit there, but the page ties it all together.

My friend Lily once used a page from a poetry book under a pressed rose... the words were about love and loss, and they peeked through the petals. It made the whole thing feel sad but kind of beautiful, like the flower was part of the poem. When @skylershah talked about faded text under a daisy, it totally reminded me of her piece. She always says the page isn't just background... it's the voice of the art. Without those words, the rose would just be a dried flower.
