Serious question, has anyone else switched from manual to digital tension gauges on their ropes?
We had a job in a 12-story building downtown where we were replacing all the hoist ropes. The foreman brought in a new digital gauge, and I was used to my old manual one. The digital one gave us a reading within 2% every time, no guesswork. My manual gauge was off by almost 10% when we checked it against the shop's calibrator. What digital models are you guys using that hold up on site?

Actually, @terry677, that 10% difference is a big deal for safety, not just keeping up. A lot of those old manual gauges were fine if you kept them calibrated.

That's a huge difference, especially on a job that size. It's scary to think how many times we trusted those old manual gauges. Makes the switch to digital feel pretty necessary.

Yeah, it's like @terry677 said. You see this everywhere now, old tools just can't keep up. My old tire pressure gauge was the same way, totally off.
