My old foreman in Chicago told me to always carry a spare governor spring in my kit

I thought it was overkill until a 1980s Otis unit jammed up on a Friday afternoon. That spring got the car moving and saved a weekend call. What's one piece of 'extra' gear you guys never leave the truck without?

Aircraft wire is different from safety wire though.

Lol that's the best kind of "I told you so." I keep a whole roll of safety wire, never know when you'll need to MacGyver something.

Right? That stuff is a lifesaver. I keep a small roll in my glove box and a bigger one in the garage. It's saved me from a tow truck more than once when a heat shield rattled loose or a bracket snapped. The trick is to get the real aircraft-grade stuff, the cheap hardware store wire just snaps. Twist it tight with some good pliers and it'll hold until you can make a proper fix.
