Did anyone else learn they've been using thermal paste wrong for years?

Wait, you're telling me I've been doing the pea-sized dot wrong this whole time? That's honestly kind of blowing my mind...

Oh yeah, I learned the hard way that a pea-sized drop in the middle is actually not always the best method. For bigger CPUs like the Ryzen ones, I've found a thin line across the middle works way better because the chip is rectangular. Spreading it with a card can also work but I always worry about getting air bubbles in there. Too much paste and it oozes out the sides making a huge mess, too little and you get hot spots.
