Update: Met a guy at the Edmonton Chamber event last month
We were grabbing coffee after the main talk. He runs a small HVAC company. He said, 'The best leads come from other local businesses, not ads.' He explained how he trades referrals with a plumbing contractor downtown. Made me rethink my whole networking plan. Anyone else build their client base this way in Edmonton?

My old boss at a print shop on 124th Street did the same thing. He had a deal with the office supply store next door. They sent him all their printing jobs, he sent them all his paper orders. That one partnership brought in about 30% of our steady work. It's way better than cold calling.

Read a case study about a bakery that did this with a nearby coffee shop. Makes so much more sense than chasing random leads.
