Update: My crew's mud mixer broke down mid-job again
We lost half a day waiting for a replacement, which is killing our schedule. Any advice on backup plans for when tools fail?

Ngl, hearing about your mixer going down hits close to home. Dealing with broken tools in the middle of a job is so annoying, it throws everything off. What about setting up a deal with another local crew before things break? We started trading favors with a team two towns over, so now when our compactor dies we call them first. They'll loan us gear for a day if we return the favor next time they're in a pinch. It's faster than any rental place and only costs you a case of beer sometimes.
