TIL my old boss was right about using a 1/8 inch lead for initial sketches

Honestly, I always thought it was a waste of time and stuck with my 0.5mm. Tried it on a complex elevation drawing last week and the lighter lines made revisions so much cleaner. Anyone else have a simple tool tip that seemed silly but actually works?

Reminds me of the guy who swore by using a dull pencil for shading. Sounded dumb until I tried it.

What kind of drawing were you working on?

It was just a rough sketch of a city street. Not sure why @kelly_craig is asking like it's some big reveal. People take this stuff way too seriously sometimes.
