I was sure those new drafting pencils were just hype, but my partner got me one for my birthday.

It's a 0.3mm lead holder, and the grip is way better for long sessions. Has anyone else switched from mechanical pencils and been surprised?

What kind of lead are you using in it? I held out for years, thought my old mechanical was fine. Switched to a 0.5mm holder last year and the balance just makes a stupid difference for hand cramps. It's one of those things you don't notice until you try it.

Right? @emmag22 that balance thing is so real. I used a cheap plastic one forever and my hand would hurt after long notes. Switched to a metal body 0.7mm and the weight just sits in your fingers differently, no more death grip.

Honestly I was the same with fountain pens, thought they were just for fancy writing. Tried one on a whim and the ink flow makes my normal handwriting look way smoother without any extra effort. It's a small thing but it makes writing notes feel less like a chore.
