An old surveyor in Portland showed me his trick for reading faded property markers
He pulled out a cheap UV flashlight and shined it on a worn iron pin, and the stamped numbers lit up clear as day. Has anyone else found a weird tool that makes old marks readable?

My buddy tried that UV trick on an old iron pin and the numbers popped right out.

That reminds me, chalk works on concrete markers if you rub it on the right way.

You ever try a wire brush before the chalk? I found that hitting the concrete marker with a stiff brush first gets all the dirt and grime out of the grooves. Then when you rub the chalk on, it really grabs hold and shows the numbers clear as day. Made a huge difference on some old markers I was trying to read last year. Without that prep step I was just smearing chalk everywhere with no luck.
