Coworker Dave cost me $200 in wasted material before I listened to him about pre-stretching carpet

When I still worked for a crew in Phoenix, Dave kept telling me to let carpet relax overnight before cutting, and after I had to redo a whole bedroom because it buckled, I finally realized he wasn't being paranoid, he was saving me money and time - has anyone else had to eat crow about a basic step they skipped?

Man, I have been there. I skipped letting paint dry between coats on a big job once and had to sand everything down and start over, cost me a whole Saturday. It's rough when you realize the guy who's been doing it forever actually knows what he's talking about. Dave sounds like a real pro for keeping at it until you listened.

Wait, you had to sand down a whole job because you skipped drying time? lmao that's brutal, @williams.jenny. I feel your pain though, I did the same thing on a cabinet once and ended up with a finish that looked like wrinkled garbage. It's amazing how the old timers like Dave always know exactly why stuff goes sideways.

Nah, sometimes you just get lucky and it works out fine.
