Just realized a simple brush setting fixed my muddy color problem
I was trying to paint a sunset scene in Procreate for a week and the colors kept turning into a gross brown mess. I finally switched the blending mode on my main brush from 'normal' to 'add' and it made the oranges and purples glow without mixing into mud. Has anyone else found a specific brush setting that saved a piece?

Blending modes are a basic tool, not a crutch, and they're meant to be used.

Honestly, I feel like that's just a band-aid fix. You're covering up a color mixing problem with a special effect. Learning to mix cleaner colors on a normal setting is the real skill.

Saw a really good point about this in an art book last week. It said effects can be a crutch if you don't know the basics first. Like you gotta walk before you can run. But also, once you know the rules, breaking them with effects is a valid choice. It just depends on what you're going for in the final piece.
