Had to pick between a Wacom and an iPad for my art setup this fall
I spent three weeks going back and forth on it. I went with the Wacom Intuos Pro medium because I wanted the pen feel without the glossy screen. So far it is working out great for my line work in Procreate clones, but I still wonder if the iPad would have been better for portability. Anyone else torn between these two for digital art?

Yep, matte screen protector is the real move there.

The Wacom pen feel is what sold me too, honestly changed my whole view on tablets.

@william_torres that's exactly what flipped the switch for me too. I tried a few different brands before landing on Wacom and the pen just has this resistance that feels closer to actual paper than anything else I've used. The pressure sensitivity on the older models was already good but the newer ones let me get really fine lines without any lag which made a huge difference for sketching. Your mileage may vary but pairing it with a matte screen protector really sealed the deal for me.

Did you ever try writing on an iPad with a basic stylus before switching to Wacom? I read somewhere that the nib material and the way the screen picks up pressure is totally different between brands. The Wacom feel is all about that slight friction, like dragging a real pencil across paper, and the cheap ones just slide around too much. I saw a review that compared it to writing on glass with a wet noodle and that stuck with me. That resistance is what makes it work for actual drawing, not just tapping around. I get why people say it changes how they see tablets.
