That $12 fuel additive from the truck stop in Amarillo actually cleaned my injectors
I always figured those little bottles on the counter were a scam for rookies. But my 6.7 was running rough at idle and a guy at the TA in Amarillo swore by the stuff, so I dropped $12 on a bottle. Two tanks later the miss was gone and my mileage crept back up about 1 mpg. Anyone here actually run additive on a schedule, or do you just fix the real problem and move on?

Where in the tank are you dumping it, the fuel or the DEF? Kidding, but for real, did you pull the filter after those two tanks to see if there was junk in the housing or if it just dissolved the gunk and sent it downstream? That's the part that worries me with the cheap counter stuff, it loosens deposits but where do they go. What brand was it, the grey bottle or the white one? Curious if you ran it at the double dose like the label says for a dirty system or just the normal ratio, cause that changes the whole math on whether it's worth doing every few months.
