Tried clicker training with my rescue dog and it actually worked
I was pretty sure it was just a gimmick, but after 3 days of 5 minute sessions my 7 year old beagle mix is sitting on command without a treat. Has anyone else had a method they were skeptical about turn out to be surprisingly effective?

Laughed out loud when I read your post because I was the exact same way with my dog. I spent years thinking clicker training was just some fancy Instagram trend for people who treat their dogs like science experiments. Then my stubborn mutt refused to learn "stay" for six months straight and I got desperate enough to try it. Turns out I was the dummy all along, clicker training worked in like a week and now my dog practically puts himself to bed when he hears the click. Guess the joke was on me, the guy who thought he could outsmart a beagle mix with nothing but stern looks and broken cheese crackers.

Wait hold on. "Puts himself to bed when he hears the click"? That's wild. I've got to hear more about that because my dog just stares at me like I'm holding a toy not a treat. I mean I knew clicker training could teach tricks but something about your dog choosing to go to bed on his own because of a sound? That feels like a whole different level. You really got him that tuned into the click or is he just weirdly smart?

It's funny how we'll trust a tiny plastic clicker more than our own voice for the dog but second-guess everything else in life, isn't it?
