Showerthought: I spent $80 on a 'self-cleaning' litter box my cat refuses to use.
He just sits beside it and stares at me, so I'm back to scooping the old pan anyway. Has anyone else's pet completely rejected a fancy gadget you bought for them?

Yeah, the "self-cleaning" part only works if the cat agrees to the deal. Mine did the same thing with an automatic feeder, just batted it around until it broke.

My friend's cat, Mr. Whiskers, figured out how to open the lid on his automatic litter box. He just sits there and flips it over and over, like it's his personal arcade game. Sounds like he and @reeseperez's cat would be partners in crime.

Oh man, @jade_johnson, you are SO right. I bought one of those fancy water fountains that's supposed to filter itself. My cat just sat and watched it for a week, then decided it was her new enemy. She knocks the whole thing over every single night. I'm basically just paying for a very expensive, very loud floor mopping service. The box made it sound like a DREAM but my cat had other plans.
