Spent 20 minutes drawing a spoon before I realized I was doing the perspective all backwards
I was sitting at my desk yesterday trying to sketch a simple spoon for a doodle and I kept getting the bowl part looking like a flat oval. Took me like 5 tries and I was getting annoyed. Then I looked at the actual spoon in my hand and realized I was drawing the curve going the wrong way. The handle angle was messing up my brain I guess. Ever notice how something that simple can trip you up? Anybody else have a basic object that just refuses to look right no matter how many times you try?

Probably not that deep dude, it's just a spoon. You spent 20 minutes on it and learned something, that's not a disaster. Pretty standard stuff when drawing anything with curves and angles.

Miles is right, there's something deeper going on here. Most people can't sit still with a single task for twenty minutes anymore without checking their phone or getting distracted. The fact that someone spent that time focused on drawing a spoon and actually learning something from it is pretty rare these days. We treat every small project like it has to produce something gallery-worthy or it's a waste of time, but that kind of thinking keeps people from ever really getting good at anything.

Nah I think you're underselling it a bit.
