Oh damn, that's rough! Getting your email hijacked is a nightmare, I had a friend who went through that and it took weeks to fix everything. Now I'm seriously reconsidering my whole password system, maybe your buddy was onto something after all lol.

Laughing at my own stupid self for this exact reason - I used the same password for everything for years and thought I was being smart by making it easy to remember. Then my Steam account got hijacked and some kid in Russia was buying games with my credit card at like 4 in the morning. Spent a whole weekend on the phone with support feeling like the biggest idiot on the planet. Now I've got a notebook full of random passwords that look like a cat walked on my keyboard and I'm that guy who changes his password every time he sees a weird login attempt.

Oh man I did the exact same thing... laughed at my roommate for having like 50 passwords saved in his browser and told him he was being paranoid. Then my Spotify account got hacked and they started playing some weird polish rap playlist at 3am and I couldn't figure out how to kick them off for a week. Now I'm the guy with a password manager and a recovery code taped to my monitor like a total dork. It's funny how fast you go from "that's extra" to "please just let me set up two-factor authentication" after one bad experience.
