Wasted $120 on a 'waterproof' phone case that leaked on day 3

Bought one of those fancy waterproof pouches for kayaking in Lake Tahoe and my phone got fried when a tiny rip let water in. Anyone else had those flimsy cases fail on them?

Did you try the old ziploc bag trick first? I learned that lesson the hard way when my "heavy duty" waterproof pouch failed during a whitewater rafting trip and my phone ended up looking like a fish tank decoration. Now I just double bag everything in freezer bags and call it a day.

Good call on the freezer bags, those things are seriously underrated for keeping stuff dry. Actually learned that from my dad who used to wrap his hunting gear in them before a trip. Double bagging is the way to go though, especially if you're gonna be rough on them. Squeeze all the air out first before sealing, that's the trick my buddy swears by and it's never let him down.

Wait, so that "heavy duty" pouch was basically just an overpriced swimming pool for your phone? Guess I'll stick with my sandwich bag strategy too, at least my phone won't end up as a conversation piece with the fish.
