The customer who insisted I cut his hair with garden shears

Back in 2018 at my old barbershop in Tulsa, a guy walked in and handed me a pair of rusty hedge trimmers, saying they worked better than my clippers. I went along with it for a laugh, but after 10 minutes he got mad I wouldn't finish the job with them. Has anyone else had a customer bring in their own weird tool?

Honestly I had a lady bring in a pair of those old-school sewing scissors once, the big heavy ones with the brass handles. She swore they gave a cleaner line on her kid's bangs than my thinning shears. I tried one snip and it just yanked the hair, I told her I couldn't do it and she got all huffy and left. Ngl I still have that weird pair of scissors sitting in my drawer as a souvenir.

Oddly enough there's a whole group of people who think their rusty junk is better than professional tools, like they're cracking some code the rest of us are too brainwashed to see. It's the same energy as the guy who insists his chain sharpening jig is superior to a proper barber's clipper blade. Makes you wonder if they just want an excuse to have a weird story to tell later.

@christopherwilson You're spot on about the weird story thing lol. It's like they want the drama more than the result. I feel bad for whoever ends up with those hacked up bangs.
