Wasted $600 on a used Grove cab controller that was DOA
Bought a refurbished cab controller off a guy on Craigslist near St. Louis. Plugged it in and nothing, not even a flicker. Took me three trips back to the shop to realize it was fried inside. Anyone else get burned buying used parts online?

nah i gotta disagree with you there @henderson.oscar, $600 for a used cab controller is way different than a gpu. gpus are pretty straightforward to test and you can see issues right away. these industrial controllers can have hidden problems that are impossible to spot without a full setup. sounds like OP got a bad deal but that doesnt mean all craigslist finds are bad. ive bought tons of parts off there and most worked fine, just gotta be smart about what youre buying and test it on site if possible.

Craigslist is basically a gamble with extra steps, and you threw down $600 chips on a machine that could have had any issue. Refurbished often means "we wiped off the dust and called it good" in the used parts world. Maybe next time test it before handing over cash, or stick to a seller with a return policy and a phone number that works.
