Ran a 90 ton pour on Friday and spent most of it watching a kid on a phone
Three years back our crew had four guys who could read a hand signal from 200 feet without blinking, and now two of them have retired. Last Friday I was swinging forms over a site off Highway 9 and my rigger, maybe 22, kept his face in his phone between picks. I finally asked him what signals he knew and he named three, so I walked him through the rest during lunch. I get that radios and cameras do a lot now, but a dead battery should not leave us guessing. How are you all handling the signal training gap with the newer hands?
