Pro tip: Building mini cranes at home sharpened my site vision

I got into making small scale crane replicas as a side hobby. It really helps me judge distances and clearances faster when I'm up in the cab.

Wait, you're actually up in real crane cabs for work. That part just fully registered. You casually said "when I'm up in the cab" like it's no big deal. My mind is stuck on how you even got into that position, it's not exactly a normal job. Building the models at home is one thing, but applying it to the real giant metal version is wild.

Ever think about how weird it is? Yeah, it's a trip. Like @valg63 said, moving from model kits to the real cab is crazy. My first day up high... the metal groans, the city looks tiny, and your hands feel the controls. It's the same shapes you build at home, but now they hold you up. That jump from table to sky never gets old. Still hits me every time I climb up.

WHAT. No but seriously, when you put it like that it does sound insane. The shift from little plastic parts on my kitchen table to like, several hundred feet of actual open air under the cab is a trip. My brain just files it all under "crane stuff" and moves on. But yeah, hearing you say it out loud makes the whole thing sound completely wild.
