I quit booming down with my old Liebherr and started trusting the LMI readout instead
For about three years I ran every pick the same way: creep the boom down slow, watch the load, and feel it out. The LMI was just a backup in my head. Then a guy on a wind farm job near Abilene watched me do a 12,000 lb generator lift and asked why I was fighting the computer. He showed me his screen, showed me his stick movement, and it was night and day. I tried it on the next three picks and the load steadied out way faster. Turns out I was chasing the load the whole time instead of letting the system do its job. Now my landings are smoother and my hands don't ache by 3pm. Anybody else run their LMI as the main tool or do you still go by feel?
