Am I the only one who thought those load moment indicators were just a sales gimmick
Back in 2009 I ran an old 40 ton truck crane for a small outfit in Gary, Indiana, and the owner wouldn't spring for any of that electronic stuff. Fast forward to 2018, the new company I hired on with in Chicago put me on a rig with an LMI system and I rolled my eyes the whole first week. Then I picked a precast panel at 85 feet radius, and the alarm went off two feet before I would've tipped it, plain as day. I sat in the cab for a minute after that thinking about how many close calls I'd brushed off over the years. Anybody else come around on the electronics after swearing by feel alone?
