Saw something smart at a job site in Nashville last week
I was walking through a big commercial build off Broadway and noticed the GC had set up a little plywood scrap bin station right next to the saw. Not for trash, but for any offcuts over 18 inches. They sorted them by length and had a sign with common stud and blocking sizes. The crew grabbed pieces without cutting fresh lumber all day. I asked the foreman about it and he said it saves them roughly 40 board feet a week on a job this size. That's like 15 or 20 bucks per week in wood, plus the time. Anybody else tried a dedicated scrap reuse rack on their sites, or does it just turn into a mess?
