Bid my own jobs wrong for 7 years, a homeowner caught it in 30 seconds
I priced a deck rebuild in Dayton at $4,800. Client asked why I charged for lumber markup AND line items for screws. I was double counting fastener cost and labor, then padding a pair of 10% overruns nobody caught before. Do most of you bid flat per job or line by line? I still think my old way had wiggle room, but the math was hard to argue with.
