The guy who flipped a trailer in 4 minutes made me ditch my 3-page load plan

I used to lay out every strap and chock position on paper before any haul. Last Tuesday at a yard in Fontana, this old timer watched me spend 20 minutes on it, then just shook his head and said 'you're planning the load, not the road.' He walked me over to his rig, showed me how he balances weight by feel and uses the brake test at slow speed to catch shift before it starts. He flipped a spreader trailer in 2019 because he trusted the math over the sway. I still sketch rough sketches, but now I spend 5 minutes on paper and 15 walking the load. Has anyone else dumped the detailed checklist for a simpler setup that actually works safer?

Math saved my ass plenty, feelings get you killed.
