TIL the moon landing 'studio' rumor traces back to a 1976 self published pamphlet, not some big leak

I fell down a rabbit hole this weekend after a buddy swore the whole thing was faked, and I ended up reading about a guy named Bill Kaysing who put out a booklet called 'We Never Went to the Moon' back in 1976. What got me is how one self published pamphlet from a guy with no space background basically started the whole debate that still runs today. I always figured these things came from some insider or leaked memo, not one dude with a typewriter. Does anyone know if there were earlier claims before Kaysing, or is he really the start of it?
