Took me 6 hours to pour a 4x6 patio slab last Tuesday

I kept fighting with the gravel base because it was wet from rain the night before. Ended up having to hand tamp it three times before it felt solid. Anyone else dread working with soggy subgrade?

Ngl wet subgrade is a total nightmare to deal with.

Wet gravel is the worst. Took me 4 hours just to get my base right last week.
