My power trowel repair took me 6 weekends instead of 1
I bought a used Whiteman from a guy in Phoenix with a bad clutch, figured I'd swap it in a day. Turned out the shaft was warped and three bolts were seized, so I spent every Saturday for a month and a half sourcing parts and cutting those bolts out. Has anyone else had a simple fix snowball into a project that ate up way more time than you expected?

Heard a guy say once that every project has a hidden "second project" inside it and that's definitely been my experience with anything mechanical. Once you start pulling stuff apart you always find something else that's busted or rusted or just plain stupid. Six weekends is rough but at least you didn't have to hire someone to finish it.

The "second project" thing is kind of true but also it's just what happens when you buy used gear sight unseen. You saved money upfront, that's the trade off. A warped shaft and seized bolts are annoying but not exactly a nightmare scenario.

Yeah @amy_coleman21 you're right, "annoying but not a nightmare" is basically the slogan for every project I've ever owned. I swear my first project car had a "second project" inside it that was secretly a third project just for fun.
